Goats
We have a small herd of grass fed meat goats. We combine excellent milk lines with good meat lines for a fast growing, high yield meat goat. To achieve this we breed our registered American Saanen buck to boer does. We keep the resulting does from that breeding and breed them to our registered 100% boer bucks from ennobled bloodlines. This yields the highest meat production in the shortest growing time. In the past with this combination we have had 60 pound kids at the age of 10 weeks.
Triple-S-Farms Drepk Van Huey - 2005 ADGA registered American Saanen buck:
Huey's mother was the top milk producing doe in the year she carried Huey. By top producing, we are not talking about the highest recorded milker in a breed, but the highest in the country out of all breeds! She milked 5200 pounds of milk in 305 days. In gallons, that comes out to more than 2 gallons of milk a day!!!
But that is only half of the story. His sire was the son of a doe that was a top ten milker two years in a row. Besides milking up a storm, his ancestors were also meeting the requirements for dairy conformation, with Grand Champions in his background.
Answer: Because you can't k eep him out of the dang horse hay!
Yes that is a horse eating on the other side of the feeder. A 16.1 hand thoroughbred mare.
